First 30 days

• Routine: Crate or pen, regular toilet breaks, and plenty of attention. Staffy puppies are often very people-focused and don’t like being left alone, so practise short, calm separations early.
• Vet visit in week 1: Health check, vaccinations, worming and parasite control.
• Microchip and registration: Required in most states and territories. Check council rules for your area.
• Socialisation: Positive, controlled meetings with calm, vaccinated dogs and a range of people. Ask your vet what is safe before vaccinations are complete. Avoid dog parks for young pups.
• Chew plan: Provide a rotation of safe chews so furniture isn’t the target.
